This was an eventful fall for the Trinity Hall Monarchs. All seven varsity fall sports teams found great success this season. Win or lose, the Monarchs never give up on their teams; this sense of determination can be seen throughout all of the community. The teams showed a great deal of perseverance, one of Trinity Hall’s core values.

Starting off strong, cross country had a stellar season with some notable accomplishments, both as a team and individually. The team finished sixth overall at the Bowdoin Park Classic in Wappingers Falls, New York in October. Cate Bonan ‘25 and Steele Summers ‘26 finished first and fourth, respectively at the A-Central Divisional championship meet. The Monarchs continued to work hard through the season placing well in the Monmouth County Championships, as well as qualifying for the Shore Conference Championship.

At the Non-Public A state meet, the Monarchs raced incredibly with many personal bests to go around. Most notably, Summers ‘26 qualified individually for the prestigious Meet of Champions, becoming the first Monarch to do so since moving up to the Non-Public A division. Summers ‘26, as well as her teammates Bonan ‘25 and Meulener ‘25 returned to Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York to compete in the Northeast Regional Champions. The Monarchs had a fantastic season, and hope to continue in this manner for years to come.

Senior captain Caroline Miele was thrilled with the entire team’s success throughout the season, “Our teams’ culture was so unique and tight-knit this year. From attending camp in the summer to breaking personal records at our meets, the team worked hard and truly put their best foot forward for each other. Everyone running for each other made a huge difference in our times and overall success. It was inspiring to see, and has made me excited for the future accomplishments of this amazing team!”

Varsity field hockey worked together as a team to be successful this season. For the first time in Trinity Hall history, the varsity team won a state championship game to make it to the quarterfinals of the South Jersey, Non-Public State Championship Tournament. Senior captain Nan Sperber says, “We had such a fun season! Making it to the second round of states and the Shore Conference Tournament was amazing!” The team finished their season with a winning record. The future is looking very bright as the two leading scorers this season Lizzie Cambell ‘27 and Olivia O’Rourke ‘26 are underclasswomen who played a crucial role.

The Monarchs on the gymnastics team continue to show success and improvement with each season. Six out of 10 gymnasts qualified for the sectional championship, and the team continued onto the state tournament as a team and as individuals. Meg Arslanian ‘25 was proud of the team’s success this season, “This year, the gymnastics team definitely had one of its best years yet. We learned how to work together as a team and our bond is stronger than ever.”

The sailing team took part in an impressive season as well. Julianna Walsh ‘24 and Caroline Duffy ‘25 skippered their boat to a sixth-place finish at the Toms River Yacht Club Regatta in October, and the team took part in their final varsity regatta the following month. Captain Alex DaCosta ‘24 said, “Our season went really well and I am proud of all the girls, especially our new freshmen. The highlight of our season was our fourth-place win at the Turkey Bowl Regatta in Perth Amboy and it was a lot of fun to sail in a new environment for a good cause!”

The varsity soccer team proved to have an outstanding season by being seeded third and having a bye in the first round of the NJSIAA Non-Public A State tournament. After defeating Red Bank Catholic, they took on Princeton Day School for the state final. Although they did not come out on top, the Monarchs still put on an incredible showing. They persevered until the end and did not give up until the final whistle. Goalie Emily Venezia ‘26 held the score to 2-0. With an impressive record of 15-3-1, the starting lineup consists of only three upperclasswomen, making the future promising for the Monarchs. Senior captain Reilly Sullivan says, “I am so proud of how hard the soccer team worked this season! Beating Red Bank Catholic to reach the state finals was an awesome accomplishment.”

Varsity tennis also had a successful season. The team was NJSIAA Non-Public A State finalists and also made history this fall by winning the first-ever sectional state title for the NJSIAA Non-Public South. Additionally, the first doubles team of Grace Sullivan ‘24 and Aanya Patel ‘27 advanced to the semi-finals in the Monmouth County Tournament.

The Monarch volleyball team finished off their noteworthy season with a victory against Toms River South, beating them two sets to one. Although they did not make it to the State Tournament, the team worked hard this season and made great community contributions, like their “Dig Pink” fan day. The team raised money for breast cancer research by selling pink shirts and dedicated a game in October to the Dig Pink Foundation.

With many individual and team accomplishments this fall season, the Monarchs look forward to more successful seasons in the coming months.
